Queer Student Commisson (Formally Known as the ASUW GBLTC)
Queer Student Commission
The GBLTC is one of eight diversity commissions under the Associated Students of the University of Washington. We are an umbrella organization for gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, queer, and ally students on campus.
Purpose -
The mission of the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, Transgender Commission (GBLTC) is to first support, educate, and offer safe space to gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender UW students. In addition, we aim to provide non-hetero-sexist, anti-racist, non-ablest and non-sexist programming and services. We aim to create an anti-oppressive community by funding, sponsoring and endorsing events, ideas, and information that share these anti-oppressive principles, promote community and work to increase a nurturing environment for all students.
History -
In 1971 the first GBLT group was established, the Gay Students Association (GSA). The name of this group was changed in 1974 to the Gay People’s Association (GPA), and then changed again to the Gay Men and Lesbian Association (GMLA), and finally to the Gay Bisexual and Lesbian Association (GBLA). Then in May of 1991 the ASUW Board of Control passed bill #144 which granted commission status for the Gay, Bisexual and Lesbian Commission. The name of the commission was changed again in September of 1997 to the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian, Transgender Commission (GBLTC). Most recently, in the fall of 2011 the commission was renamed the Queer Student Commission to include the most students possible under the large umbrella term “queer.”

Gender Discussion Group
Gender Trouble? Troubling Gender? Gender Just Plain Troubling? What’s With That Binary? AMIRITE? LOL WUT? Join the Q Center in conversations about gender, identity, and expression. We will discuss how gender can be utilized in liberatory and affirming spaces. All folks are encouraged to attend.
Dr. Jennifer Self will be co-facilitating these meetings on Tuesdays from 3pm-4pm

Femspace
Femspace, a subgroup of UW’s Campus Coalition for Sexual Literacy, is held every week discussing all matters of Female Sexuality.
Each biweekly meeting will concern a different topic, supplemented by group discussions and activities.
For any and all open-minded female and/or female-identified persons, Femspace offers a safe place for questions, ideas and support in some fun and hopefully enlightening sex talks.
We would love for any and all to join us!

Queer People of Color Alliance
We aim to provide a safe space for queer people of color and allies to discuss GLBT issues as they intersect with culture, sex/gender, ethnicity, race, religion, or ability. We hope to share our experiences and to further inform and educate the greater community to respect and understand diversity.
